Short and good article Optimizing dynamic Linux webservers and related links:
Little excerpt from debian-volatile maillist for those who asked me about Debian distributions: Felipe Augusto van de Wiel and Kyle Wheeler notes.
Today I found that latest Knoppix CD (v4.0.2 from 2005-09-23) does not support Logical Volume Manager (LVM)! At least, out of the box. It’s strange, because of the fact that even kernel from Debian (from wich Knoppix is made) ’stable’ have such support already. Many people, when asked about recovery tools, name Knoppix in first lines, so, I think, it is critical miss.
Now don’t have machine in my hands to play with, only laptop, but seems that there are some user-space utilities/libraries missed. Probably libdevmapper or something more?
Hope it could be installed from DEBs after Knoppix is started… Will write here if found more infoon topic.
By the way, there is another Debian-based rescue CD: Timo’s Rescue CD Set.
